Is MBBS in Bangladesh degree valid in India?
The MBBS degree from Bangladesh is equivalent to MBBS in India. For appearing in NEXT, you need to comply with all the rules and regulations as formed by NMC. These rules were updated in November 2021. These rules are called Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations 2021. One of the most important new rules is that you have to get a registration/license from the country from which you study MBBS. As per the Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council’s notification regarding the Registration of Foreign Medical & Dental Graduates from Bangladesh, foreign graduates will get full registration as like native Bangladeshi students.
After completing MBBS from Bangladesh, you can come back to India and sit for the screening test which is called NEXT. Upon clearing this licensing exam, you have to do 1 more year of internship in India and clear any other exams (NExT-2) if introduced. After this, you have to register with a state medical council in India and get a permanent license once you comply with all the rules and regulations.

MBBS in Bangladesh Eligibility 2023
Only Class 12 pass out of 2023 (current year) and 2022 (last year) can apply. Also, the minimum score in Biology in class 12 should be 60%.
- The candidate must have a passport with a minimum of 6 months left before the date of expiration in order to get a visa for MBBS in Bangladesh.
- The student must be 17 years old or above on or before 31st December of the year in which the student is taking admission.
- A student will not be eligible to get admission for MBBS in Bangladesh if there is a gap of more than 2 years after class 12th or +2.
- If the student applies for admission in the current year, then he/she should have completed class 12th or passed class 12th in the current year or in the previous year. If the board conducts an exam in 2021 but issues a Passing Certificate in 2022, then also a student is eligible for taking admission.
- The student must have received the Passing Certificate (of class 12) in the current year (2023) or the previous year (2022) only. If you fail to meet this criterion, then you will not be eligible to study MBBS in Bangladesh.
- The student must have cleared the 10th standard in 2020 or 2021.
- Indian students must have Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in classes XI and XII.
- The student must have at least more than or equal to 60% aggregate marks in PCB in class 12th. The student must have more than 60% marks in Biology.
- The minimum aggregate GPA in SSC or equivalent & HSC or equivalent should be 8.00.
- Also, the minimum GPA individually in SSC or equivalent & in HSC or equivalent should be 3.5
- The minimum GPA in biology in class 12th must be 3.5
- For calculation of GPA against the marks obtained in SSC or ‘O’ level or any equivalent exam, only the top 5 subjects are considered for calculation of GPA. Therefore, the GPA in ‘O’ level = The total marks obtained in the top 5 subjects ÷ 5.
- For calculation of GPA against the marks obtained in HSC/ ‘A’ level or any equivalent exam, only 3 subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) are considered for calculation of GPA.
- Qualifying Grade in each subject individually is “C”. Therefore, GPA in ‘A’ level = (total marks obtained in three subjects) ÷ 3.
- Also, all students now have to clear the NEET exam. NEET result is valid for 3 years for MBBS abroad.
Study Pattern
While studying MBBS from Bangladesh, the main emphasis is laid on developing the clinical base of the students. All colleges in Bangladesh have attached hospitals who have a large patient inflow. It does not mean that the other options are not good. There are good, average, and bad medical colleges in every country, even India and Bangladesh. Going to a good medical college in Ukraine will be better than going to a bad medical college in Bangladesh or the Philippines. The FMGE passing percentages of Bangladesh and the Philippines were almost the same.
